A preventive approach
The management and protection of the natural and cultural resources of the region where the project is located is carried out according to Law No. 7,107 and the Provincial System of Protected Areas (SIPAP).
In Eramine, we take a preventive approach at the moment of decision making. This means we can avoid having to resort to the correction, mitigation and/or remediation of potential environmental impacts. We monitor biodiversity, including flora and fauna, at two different times of the year: at the beginning and at the end of the rainy season. In this way, we can learn about the seasonal movement of the fauna and vegetation growth.
In the department of Los Andes, there is a reserve that falls under the category of Protected Area Management with Sustainable Use of Resources according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN, 2009), which regulates conservation associated with productive/extraction activities. Our project, which is carried out as part of a sustainable productive process, with permanent research and development aimed at optimizing the use of resources, is consistent with this principle.
