In light of recent publications questioning the working conditions at our Centenario-Ratonesproject, Eramine Sudamérica considers it necessary to provide clarifications, in a framework of full transparency and respect towards our workers, contractors, authorities, and the broader community.

Since the beginning of our operations, we have consistently endeavored to provide our employees with working conditions that uphold their safety and well-being. We take all reports concerning working conditions very seriously and are committed to addressing them promptly and appropriately, with the firm objective of continuously improving our practices.

Catering Service Conditions

Regarding the food service conditions at high altitude, a bidding process is currently underway to incorporate a mobile kitchen that will complement the existing service, aiming to improve both operability and food quality. This process is part of a planned renewal, which also includes a new comprehensive catering tender. It is important to note that the food service is continuously monitored by our Camp Management, Hygiene, and Safety teams, in addition to regular inspections conducted by external agencies.

Alleged Presence of a Rodent in Meals Preparations in August 2023

In relation to an incident allegedly occurring in August 2023—concerning the presence of a rodent in a meal preparation—we clarify that such event did not occur. This was investigated and dismissed by two independent laboratories, which found no biological traces to support such a claim. Our internal control system, which includes the preservation of food sample records, allowed us to confirm the safety of the service provided.

Response to Gastroenteritis Cases

Following a series of gastroenteritis cases recorded late last year, the company acted immediately, applying established protocols in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Labor Secretariat, and the Mining Secretariat. All cases were treated on-site by the medical team, with no serious complications, and were subsequently reviewed by an external provider and our internal Health and Safety teams.

Facility Conditions

Concerning facility conditions, we have heard the points raised during a recent staff assembly and we have already started carrying out the according improvements. Mattresses were replaced, bathrooms, heaters, locks, and other room features were repaired. Additional action plans are currently being developed and will be implemented in due course.

Medical Services at the Camp

With respect to emergency medical evacuations, we highlight that the air transport protocol was successfully activated in a recent case, ensuring immediate and appropriate care for a worker experiencing a cardiac issue—demonstrating the effectiveness of our emergency response system.

Contractor Oversight

The situation involving the company FMF has been resolved. Eramine conducts regular audits of all contracting companies to ensure compliance with salary payments, social contributions, and labor conditions, particularly during demobilization phases.

Final Statement

At Eramine Sudamérica, we are committed to a process of continuous improvement. We remain firmly dedicated to providing the best possible working conditions for our workers and take matters related to their health, safety, and well-being with the utmost seriousness—beyond strict compliance with all applicable regulations. We extend our sincere thanks to all Eramine teams for their continued dedication to making this project a success.

We also value open dialogue and are available to any journalists who wish to engage with us to clarify the issues that have been raised.
